Forty minutes before contest start, I turned everything on. SWR on all bands was
our of wack. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! Spent next two hours outside in snow storm
trying to find problem. Took things apart, tested. Never found a smoking gun,
but when I put everything back together SWR was okay. Troubling.
Started contest 1+20 late. Sorry Jeff. Felt behind the power curve from the
start. Which I'm disappointed to say really affected my operating.
I told N6MW 1000 QSOs. I struggled the whole way but got 1000 around 1830z. Went
for a constitutional walk with Sunshine Rhonda. Got back feeling better and
decided might as well get on again. The walk must have helped. Ran at 80+ per
hour for 1+30 holding the same frequency. At which point I decided to go out on
a good note and pulled the Big Switch.
SWR problem never reoccurred which is both nice and troubling.
