Thanks very much to N3BB for hosting this operation by Tom KB5RF and me.
Tom is a relatively new ham with a modest home station and a keen interest in
contesting. About exactly 20 years ago, N3BB hosted an open house for ARRL DX
CW that really got me hooked on contesting. Jim agreed to give Tom a similar
opportunity this weekend.
This was a multi-op, one radio operation. Tom handled the microphone for the
first 8 hours while I helped with logging. He then bowed out to help with a
brand new grandchild, and I did the last four hours.
Jim's station played great, as usual. His 3 element 40M beam is fantastic. The
inverted vee on 80 and the tuned tower on 160 worked very well also. The SAL-30
receiving antenna was great, too.
