What an interesting weekend!
I became interested in 160 a bit over a year ago. Last
January I loaded my 6M yagi (actually, the coax) to run
this contest and garnered 74 Qs and 5600 points -- not
much but a start. Now I have a "real" antenna, although
not a very efficient one. But much better than last year!
Friday night started well and I thought I was going to
do just fine. Lots of new mults and the band was
reasonably quiet. Unfortunately Saturday night was
much noiser and I discovered the limitations of my low
and shortened dipole. Hardly any new mults, and far fewer
new ones. Since I quadrupled my 2017 score Friday night,
to 23K, I assumed I'd quadruple it again Saturday night
and hit 100K. Oh well -- at least I have 13 new
countries toward DXCC.
And as a bonus, Saturday morning I completed 17M DXCC on
FT8 for my 7th DXCC band. 160 is next, with 12M waiting
for the sun to come back...
