Comments:

I started at 0007Z and by 0121Z I had swept 20 multiple times, and swept 40 and
75M for what I could hear which was not much, more EU available on 75 than 40,
pretty dismal! So, I decided as expected that this weekend was not for me, just
operate whenever I was in the mood. Conditions were actually better on 20, 15,
and 10 meters than on CW, but 20 was too full of loud signals in NA and EU to
have any sustained runs. Many thanks to Helmut, DK6WL for offering me his run
frequency at 1653Z Sunday at a time I was ready to QRT due to very low rate on
20 (had S&P'ed about everyone in EU); that was worth at least 40 additional
Q's to my total. I caught about 6-8 EU countries on 15 Saturday. Then, on Sunday
the band opened well enough that I actually had a run there for about 20-25
minutes; I was called by Z60, TK5, and GU. Then, after the run stopped and
signals were definitely fading, I found RL3A for biggest surprise of the
weekend; nothing else anywhere near them was worked. FYI, today the Russian
radar was loud on 15, but nothing worked from anywhere close. So, 15 ended up
being much less frustrating than on CW, but still had a lot of line noise there
and on 10. When 15 was peaking to EU, 10 was totally dead and stayed that way
until 1830Z. When I returned at 2008Z, 10 was wide open to the northern edge of
SA and Central America as well as 8P along with readable signals from deep SA.

I probably should have pushed it a bit harder, but hard to get enthused when
night time conditions are so poor. The USA calling out of turn was even worse
than recent years (cost me at least 1 QSO,others?) and some guys like the CP I
heard at S9 must have had some horrendous noise levels. CW is much less
frustrating. Thankfully, EU activity is still pretty high in this contest.
Thanks for the Q's.

73, Jeff
