Comments:

I don't understand the reason to use NA VHF Contest mode with FT8.  Of course I
did when I got weird grids.  But then if I used that mode, the next guy would be
in regular mode.  I suppose the goal is to allow running stations to work
stations at a rate of 1 per minute.  But a running station can already run that
rate in regular mode by sending RR73 and be looking for the next station while
the current one is sending 73.  Maybe someone can tell me what the advantage of
NA VHF Contest mode is.  But after a frustrating 17 QSOs in FT8, I would propose
deleting that mode.

Good news:  In FT8 regular mode, I worked my first Caribbean station on 6,
thanks to KP4AJ.
