Comments:

Another typical Sprint, with moments of ecstasy, and of agony. Without looking
at other 3830 reports before writing this, I'm sure I missed some mults, but
finally (!)won a jump ball on 80 to get AA5B with an hour to go, and did find NE
and QC with low numbers on 80 in the last 30 minutes by tuning, Earlier, got
XE2S on 40 after being on the wrong end of the sequence a few times. Other than
those, most of the mults seemed to come in normally, however as usual the Sprint
can be "shallow" and only a few ops are on in some states. Worked all
the mults I heard. Tried to tune a bit more while CQing on the other radio. I'm
sure that others will have more mults, but all in all, I'm OK with this.

The three hour splits were 103, 76, 88, and 58, with that dreaded second hour
always a tough one for me. The station here worked perfectly with almost no RFI
between bands when SO2Ring between 40 and 20, my usual bugaboo. Might have found
the problem. Personally, I had one "sinking" spell when numbers seemed
harder to copy, even when the signal was loud. I asked for a number of repeats,
and the other ops were very good about that. Thanks.

Twenty was super quiet and excellent, but with "null" spots to W8-W9,
etc. Some usually loud stations were very weak, and I had to give up on one or
two. Forty was great as usual, and my rebuilt two-element 40 yagi worked great
along with the old beast, the Telrex three element yagi. To have two yagis with
a signal on both coasts is a super advantage in domestic contests. Eighty was
noisy, and lots of signals were at the QRN level, with lots of requests for
number repeats.

My TR software was set up in the "old way" of not showing the
frequency. I thought that I had changed the CFG file, but noticed only after the
contest that it showed QSO numbers. Hope that I'm not DQed because of this. Will
make sure the CFG file is updated.

As always, the Sprint is, by far, my favorite contest. The Thursday NS and NSL
keep my "moves" along with call-sign recognition up to date.

Sorry to be so long. Thanks for the great activity. With NM5M QRL with family
commitments, I tried to organize some TX and W5 activity. All in all, activity
seemed a little down.

Congrats to all the amazing numbers. So many great ops in this one.
73, Jim N3BB
