Comments:
Came home 2.5 hours into the contest, after attending the Virginia Tech Hokies
football game at Lane Stadium, where they lost yet another home game to Boston
College - ugh! That took the wind out of my sails for a full bore effort.
Spent most of my 6.5 hours on 80m this weekend, testing the new dual band
vertical antenna, and I used the beautiful weather on Sunday to finally get the
2nd tower/antenna connected and tuned. Spent the last couple of hours running a
good rate on 80m with the 2-el broadside vertical array (2 verticals separated
by lambda/4), and noticed a definite RX improvement with the 2 el- phased
vertical when working stations to Northeast and to SW (OK, TX) -- in the
broadside maximum direction-- as compared to the dipole. I'm glad to have this
antenna up and working before the bad weather sets in!
thanks for the qso's. 73 ted n9nb
