Comments:
We had a great team! Everyone pulls their weight and then some. We really enjoy
the comradery of the contest. This may be Bill, K3WA's last contest with us as
he is moving to NC soon. We have really enjoyed his participation ever since
K9CT contest station was built. Thanks Bill!
Our team goal was to beat last year's score which we ultimately did. We were
concerned about 10m and those concerns were realized. We just could not find
many stations to work...no prop. 15m pleasantly surprised us with some good prop
to EU and south. 20m and 40m were very good. 40m was open most of the day. We
could work EU in daylight in the afternoon. 80m was almost like 40m in years
past. Lots of stations to work and we could run most any time it was open. 160m
was in very good shape. We heard A44A on 160m but they could not hear us. It was
neat to hear so many stations on TB.
We had to deal with some weather issues in the first few hours. Rain and
thunderstorms moved through the area and the QRN made it difficult for a few
minutes at a time. The middle 24 hours were very good weatherwise. However, we
had ominous warnings about a blizzard moving our way on Sunday. With four hours
to go we got smacked with a lot of rain that suddenly turned to ice pellets and
snow. Wind gusted to 45 mph and the storm static added 20 db to the S meters!
The last hour we could not run as we could not copy the callers!
We were linked to the live score websites and hoped we would have more stations
doing the same. It is so much fun horseracing with other teams. We knew that
there were good USA competitors lurking but had no idea who they were. Congrats
to those teams!
Next up is ARRL 160 and the M/2 team will be back for the ARRL DX contests.
Thanks for the QSOs and fun!
73, Craig K9CT
