Comments:
That was brutal. I don't think I've ever seen such a bad QRN storm on the first
day. 30 over 9 crashes constantly really killed me and I just had to get off
the air for most of the night as the storms passed very slowly but strangely, no
rain, just bad QRN. I'm sure my accuracy will take a hit more than normal. Not
sure where the storm was because weather radar in STX was pretty clear. I got
up Saturday morning and things were pretty quiet so I got a few JAs and a couple
of UA9s in the log. Sunday started much better but then deteriorated by 0300.
I just couldn't stand another QRN buzzsaw in my ears. This year I got half the
QSOs as last year and only 75% of the mults. Amazingly, the EU stations I
worked through the noise were louder than many of the 2 and 3 land contacts.
Not sure what that condition is called. Most exciting call was from TF3SG. I
couldn't believe I got him after a couple of fills.
Fortunately, the station play good but there is not much even a good set of
beverages can do with QRN THAT bad.
Thanks for the Qs.
73,
Bob K5WA
