Comments:
Fun contest. I screwed up and gave up on 20 too soon and tried to get some
mults back using my second radio but 40 was so crowded I didn't want to give up
my run frequency by moving to 20 and calling CQ and I think that was a mistake
as it's hard to come back from only 27 mults on 20.
I had horrendous power line noise that was sporadic early on on 80 and later
consumed 160. I think the conditions on 160 were actually favorable because I
managed 35 mults there despite only be able to point the 8 circle at 270 OR 135
degrees. The power line noise dropped for a spell of 8 minutes and I switched
to my low band omni receive and ran 25 stations real quick and then it slammed
me again and never let up the rest of the night.
Overall a good time. I need to make time for more contesting, still a complete
noob (and rube?) with the mistake on 20. I think I should have also called CQ
on 15 to try to get it up to 10 or so mults there.
Station equip was 6600/Maestro in SO2R. Beams on 10-40, 1/4 verts on 160/80 and
8 circle receive.
