Comments:
Well that was fun for the time that I was on, as conditions seemed really good
on the low bands. 20 sort of died during one hour that I was actually in the
chair on Sunday afternoon (bad timing), but then 40 meters opened at 2:30 pm
local time on Sunday to Europe.
My highlight was working 4 new DXCC on Topband, edging me ever closer to 100
countries with my 100 watts (now at 92). Friday night was pretty good from
around 0500-0630z to EU. I was only on for about a half hour on Saturday night,
but 160 was wide open to Europe in the last half hour of the contest, with very
strong signals.
Just as good, this was also my first test of remote operating from outside my
shack, as I made contest QSO's from my kid's lacrosse practice, while sitting in
my car waiting for another kid, lying on the couch with my feet up while the
family watched TV, and from basically every room in my house to test it out.
Instead of Dad being down in the basement locked away in front of the radio, I
was hanging out with everyone and they had no idea I was chasing DX.
