Comments:
If you like beating your head against a wall, then SSB QRP is for you! I tried
it last year and washed out early because of high QRN, but the band had been
quiet for several days pre-contest this year so I thought I would give it
another try. I started out strong (for QRP!) working 50 stations in the first 2
hours but it went down hill from there. I set a goal of 200 Q's for the first
night but fell far short. I decided to switch to high power the second night
using my club call and had a pretty good score so I'm glad I did. I normally
operate QRP during the CW contest with good results, but SSB is a different
animal. I probably won't try it again! Having the beverages is almost a curse
with QRP because I heard many multipliers that I couldn't work including lots of
Europeans and KH7. Thanks to all who pulled out my miniscule signal. 73, Greg
