Constant S9 plus QRN made copy difficult and required frequent repeats to get
the grid square correctly. Many stations only sent their grid once when twice
would have made it better copy. Only a half-dozen EU's with some 17 and 18
pointers, but no AF/SA/or Oceania. Began contest by calling CQ for two plus
hours and not a single QSO. Rig IC-7300, Acom 2000A, 1/4 wave cage fed tower,
Several Beverages but only NW/NE/and West showed readable signals. Why no SA
activity? In fact not a single station worked to the south of my QTH.
