You could call this one Murphy versus wa1fcn. The winner would be WA1FCN !
My backup computer (Windows 10)friday afternoon started acting strange..... it
would turn
off abruptly anytime. Some time it would not even start. My main computer
(Windows 7 ) does not work with my setup Write/MicroHam Interface 3. After
messing around with it Friday night I got it to run 2 hours. I thought I was
good to go for Saturday, so I went to bed. Saturday it would not start no matter
what I did. Ten minutes before contest start I decided to get radical.
I took one of the hard drives out of main computer, replaced it with the one
from backup computer. Turned on main computer and OMG it booted up. Screen
looked a mess, but it was 12:05 GMT. All the software was right there and it
worked !!! I guess my Writelog/MicroHam/WSJT combo need Windows 10 to run.
Propagation did not favor SE USA. During the night I
developed a real sore neck but I hung in there. If nothing else my Windows 7
is now a Windows 10. Yes I know it needs straightening out tho. Gosh I need
some sleep. BoB WA1FCN
