Comments:

Welome to RTTY, the venerable legacy mode. "Venerable" and
"Legacy" are direct quotes from pre-contest communications. Next
they'll be levying a death tax on it.

This is my 12th consecutive CQ-WW-RTTY. Really 11 1/2 since I started halfway
through in 2008. I enjoy RTTY contesting, all the more so after a year of major
distraction with FT8/FT4 contests, which didn't make the earth move under my
feet. Humans are asynchronous. And definitely not error corrected.

Conditions were sub-par on Saturday. At 1200z:

SSN=0
eSSN=-8
Kp=5
SFI=66

By evening I was discouraged and it was difficult to justify sitting in front of
the computer for hours letting my body deteriorate. That's bad policy at my age.
Might as well take up smoking and drinking.

On Sunday morning things improved, sort of. At least Kp got out of the red
zone:

SSN=0
eSSN=-11
Kp=2
SFI=67

Things went better, but in the end it wasn't one of my most shining moments:
only 11 QSOs/hour. Almost all S&P. As the contest wore on, I called CQ
more frequently, thinking there were lots of other S&P guys who might be
interested. I got six (6) replies, or 2% "running." I think I'll go
eat worms.

Random stuff:

Worked 4U1WB, the World Bank station, shortly followed by CO0CHE, the Che
Guevara SES. Capitalist institution and Communist icon. Wonder what they would
have to say to each other if they got to ragchewing?

I worked the famous Texas Institute of Technology station.

Some folks had glitches. Two had set their transmit filtering so narrow they
were transmitting only the mark signal. MMTTY couldn't decode them, but 2Tone on
Selective did, just as it is supposed to. Kudos to it.

Some people were sending garbage data, apparently not looking at their screens.
One guy was calling CQ TEST 22CCF 22CCF Should have worked him for an ATNO.
Maybe a new galaxy.

Just for kicks, I also entered my log into the Classic overlay category even
though it will get lumped together with the all band entries. No extra charge. I
didn't list it here because Classic entries aren't handled properly. There are
only two Classic groups: SOAB Classic HP and SOAB Classic LP

Thanks for the QSOs. We were all having a dificult time and I'm sure we're all
the better for it. Something about adversity...

Ken, AB1J
