Comments:
It has been tough, especially the first day. Propagation, at first, was
terrific. At least things turned out quite fun on saturday afternoon with a nice
US opening on 15 and on Sunday with the overall conditions improved.
Operating "Classic" overlay is not an easy task. You need to pick the
best times to be active with respect to your means. My station is far from being
a super competitive one but I am happy I scored some nice contacts, some
unexpected ones too.
Overall 20m and 40m were terrific. I even though my radio had a bogus RX when on
20m I could hear splatters all around even with a very tight filter. I guess
most are running way more than the "legal power"...at least it sounded
so. Even their markings in the panadapter were quite wide. Wonder if the
operators are aware of that or not.
Thanks to the tons of station IDing every after a couple of QSOs. It made
running unassisted real fun. I often moved to the next station visible in my
waterfall and hear it IDing in a brief time. Ony a couple of bad examples in
that...well, I had to just skip them not to waste too much time.
Glad to be called by names from some stations even if they were running piles.
Glenn, always a pleasure to work you and hear your voice!
15m really impressed me. I love this band and seeing it live even with US
signals was a thrill. N1RR loudest signal in the band on the first day right at
the start of the US opening.
Happy with the score, especially with respect to my working conditions.
New -claimed- Italian record in the SOAB LP Classic. Let's hope it will hold.
See you in the CW leg, hopefully some fun on the bands again.
