Comments:
It used to be so easy to do single op from Zone 7/8.
Now it's the new "hotspot for the millenials"
This was a blast, with TI7W, ZF1A, HI3CC, 8P5A, KP3DX and of course D4C all in
the 2BSIQ shootout.. A few others as well.
I had spent a few days with NP4Z fixing the antennas for SSB, with great results
from Randy K5ZD with the top claimed score. So I was psyched for CW.
The broadband power line noise we had for the past few years is now gone..Thanks
to a threatening letter from the local authorities.
I decided to change the 80M antenna based which I put up on Monday.
It worked great, so I took the old one down.
Well sometime during the contest it must have arced or something.. The wire
broke. I had no idea.. I found it on the ground Monday morning. The SWR was
still low, but the antenna was laying on the ground. I just thought conditions
were bad on Saturday :)
Anyway the result is still good, my highest QSO total ever.
The QSO rates that KL9A and N6MJ are doing are incredible. 11000 is super
human.
The funny part is that the first time I did 2BSIQ I had much higher rates than
now. And my practice scores are higher now than before.
I keep changing the software and obviously I'm going in the wrong direction.
I think I could have broken 9000 this time if the 80m antenna stayed up. But not
to be. Already planning for next year.
And congratulations to Jose @ D4C on another great victory.
We have been doing this SOAB thing a long time together.
I think I need him to consult on the SIQ algorithm, I am screwing it up :)
Another highlight was using the FLEX/4O3A PGXL amp. What a pleasure..
No tuning, SO2R in one box. Thanks for convincing me Ranko!
And of course now I need 3 radios thanks to N6MJ.. Which paid off; we had a nice
10m opening I could see on the scope.
