Comments:
This was one of the last events using generator power at the contest site -
thankfully! The contest house now has complete wiring inside and power lines to
be run to it soon. What a relief it will be to finally finish the inside walls
etc.
Got a late start as John K4FT and I had to clean the inside of the shack from
construction mess and install a temporary desk to put all the equipment on.
Bands were very quiet here (unlike last several 160 contests!) but propagation
was marginal compared to experience at this location. I have heard others
comment from excellent to poor conditions, we were towards the poor. EU was
weak, but no noise made them Q5.
I will say that around 5 AM local time several JA's called and they were the
loudest I have ever heard JA since I moved to KY from WA state 25 years ago.
Wish more would have been on in that short 20 minute or so window.
Otherwise the contest went very well, I am happy with how things performed, and
definitely look forward to having the contest site (house work anyway) within
the next month or so!
Lot's of dupes, some stations worked 4 or 5 times. I have seen others comment as
well.
No major frequency battles, good behavior by about everyone - great ops! Just a
few situations cropped up which seemed to be a bit of intentional QRM, but short
lived and nothing a beverage rx antenna couldn't fix :-).
Thanks to all for the Q's as always, it was a pleasant contest for sure. See you
all next weekend in the 10m test!
