Comments:
They gathered on 160 at night
To have that friendly fight
The static it crashed
Some records got smashed
The grids logged were mostly right
Antennas were hung just before
In hopes for a chance to score
A plaque by the man
Dr. Beldar (says a fan)
That wood for a temp antenna roar
Other prizes were put up for grabs
For enduring noise and the jabs
For doing so well
Scoring up a spell
A niche one you can surely nab
There’s even one that’s a hat
Can you all imagine that?
A plaque for Space 2001
By a top scorer it won’t be won

This test lets you sleep in the day
So if you’re a vampire you’ll say
This is the one for you
To dodge the sun and stay true
For it’s darkness that makes Dracula’s day
A band where the wires are real long
And playing here ain’t a sing-song
The noise can be bad
And strengths at times sad
But the DX is sometimes quite strong
You can run any ol’ power you want
From flea power to a big elephant
Multipliers will help span the gap
From short Q’s to DX on the map
Til BARC does the math our scores we won’t flaunt
The grids over Morse they go
From FN to CM or JO
All signals they do squeeze
Into bandwidths that make us wheeze
Hey, we don’t do this game for the dough!
The challenge is where it’s at
For 14 hours (or less) we sat
Yes we all read rule six
We tossed out telnet tricks
And 1-point-8 was worked til flat
The ‘Topband’ as it’s sometimes called
Where Gentlemen are always allowed
To show their fine stuff
Welcoming the nice (and gruff)
And thus everyone is quite enthralled
So the year has nearly ended
The log is carefully tended
The grids come and go
To the Boring c.o.
And Tree’ll mix all the numbers fine blended
I hope that you all had fun
In this exchange of grids that get run
To honor Stew (and LowBand Jack)
To the top of the dial and then back
On the band that’s THE BEST, bar none
HNY 2020 !
