Call: K9MMS
Operator(s): K9MMS
Station: K9MMS
Class: Single Op HP
QTH: IL
Operating Time (hrs): 8
Summary:
Total: QSOs = 200 Total Score = 1,376
Club: Society of Midwest Contesters
Comments:
K3 + P3 + AL80B. 800 WATTS. WinTest logging.
Inverted L - knee at 58 feet with lots of Cu in the near field.
RX Antennas: Hi-Z, 3 element array ; KD9SV RBOG.
Mostly S&P looking for DX - 98% of QSOs via S&P and watching the P3
blips for suspect DX signals. Just a casual effort for fun. Conditions were
very good. Started at 2338 UTC, and band was open to EU for hours - well before
the EU sunrise gray line sweep. Good signals from Europe for over 7 hours -
very unusual.
68 DX QSOs: 59 EU, plus 7X7X (ATNO 160), PJ2T, and 7 NA (non W/VE).
Went QRT at 0240 UTC and did not bother to be on around sunrise.
Surprised at the lack of Caribbean and SA stations. Also some of the usual EU
countries not heard. Nice to be called by W1BB during a short 10 minute CQ run.
Average points per QSO was 6.9, but it was about 10 for about half of the time.
Grid count about 152.
Thanks for the Qs, Ms, and fun.
73,
Gary . K9MMS
