Final Score = 1891692 points.
Still limited in antenna selection choices since the problems
in CQWW CW. But, at least one antenna per band, and the
"temporary" workaround has the tribanders on one radio and
the 20 meter yagis on the other, so got to do some in-band
SO2R. That helped a lot with only one band being open most
of the daylight hours.
SH5 shows a total of 20 hours of break time during the contest!
SH5 interprets 5 minutes between QSOs as a break. I really took
a total of 10 hours away from the rigs, eating or sleeping, so
there was still a lot of time that CQing on one radio and tuning
on the other netted nothing. Such is life for a low power guy
in the Midwest. Still, a little less sack time might have
enabled me to catch K5KU. It's good to have a goal for next year.
A problem developed Sunday with my TR4W logging configuration,
I guess. The Repeating CQ function started to malfunction, and
relaunching TR4W did not restore the function. I found it
difficult to remember to restart the CQ and lost my frequency
several times as a result while listening on the second radio.
Those 5 minutes pauses between QSOs are deadly without the
automatic CQs. Note - Howie, N4AF, says it appears to be a
Winkeyer problem. Alt-A resets the Winkeyer and it appears to
be functioning alright as I write this.
Sunday mornings spotty 10 meter opening let me snag
16 6-band stations, including VP9I for the first sweep ever.
The last time I worked VP9I on 10 meters was 2003 CQWW.
Working 56 countries on 160 the first night made it seem
anticlimatic tuning up and down the band on Saturday night.
Maybe that's why I went to bed early then. 8^)
