Comments:
Congratulations to the K3LR and NR4M teams and all of the multi-multi
teams who make multi-multi DX contesting both challenging and rewarding for
everyone involved. The W3LPL and K3LR teams are just 30 QSOs apart this time
and PVRC’s NR4M team is steadily becoming a serious competitor. Logging
accuracy will be a major factor in the outcome.
Propagation at the rock bottom of the sunspot cycle often favors more southerly
stations. This contest was no exception and our operators capitalized on our
propagation advantages on 160, 80 and 15 meters by making more than five
thousand European QSOs. 160 meters was especially productive with 427 European
QSOs. After maning only one QSO on Saturday, a brief 10 meter sporadic-E opening
on Sunday blessed us with five multipliers not worked by the other U.S.
multi-multi teams.
Propagation to the Far East was fairly good this time and made little difference
in the competitive outcome except for six Asian multipliers on
40 meters and fifty JA stations on 20 meters that we didn’t work from our more
easterly location.
