This is my 21st year of ARRL CW from VP9. I am 78 years old and went into this
contest with a laid back attitude. I would call CQ and let the score be what it
would be, no worrying about mults. I also decided to get rest when I felt like
it. This was my modus operandi for the contest. I got two one hour naps and a
six hour sleep on Sunday morning.

My 15 year old IC7000 continues to chug along. I bought it originally for my
VP9 adventures.

The most spectacular part of the contest were the totally unexpected openings on
15 and 10 meters. The 10 meter opening was very similar to sporadic E which
would seem unusual in February. It was very much like a spotlight. The low
bands were very quiet and enjoyable to operate.

I felt that activity was not quite as good as in the past despite my higher
score this year compared with last year.

73, Kurt W6PH
