Comments:

I learned plenty about SSB contesting during this event. Noise Reduction is a
great tool. Sound recording helps a great deal for sending CQ. A great degree of
elbow room is needed between stations running. I went up twice the distance I
normally move for CW and still clobbered a fellow TCG calling CQ (you know who
you are -- sorry, and thanks for letting me know). DX contacts were difficult to
get into the log because conditions were rough. 80 meters was very noisy and had
loud static crashes that made copy difficult. 20 meters was just not there for a
wire antenna. 40 was the main workhorse band most of the time from this QTH.
Worked many friends, TCG members and CWops members that accused name of being on
the wrong mode which was fun. Learned that I have to be careful when running not
to hit the up/down arrow as this will cause the RIT to activate in N1MM. That
mistake cost me a few contacts. I noticed this contest had a significant number
of unique calls getting into the log especially on Sunday. I also noticed the
significant number of contacts with serial numbers under 100 on Sunday. Storms
moving thorough TN on Saturday night didn't help either. Had to disconnect
antennas over night. Overall goal was to log 500 Q's in 12-15 hours. However, I
had to put in over 15 hours to hit the mark. SSB contesting appears to be more
exhausting than CW or digital contests. Overall. I saw much improvement from my
previous attempts in WPX SSB.
