Icom IC-7300,Heil Pro Micro Headset on VOX,Vectronics HFT-1500,and a two day old
Amateur Radio Supplies 90 foot long ZS6BKW flattop,up 45 feet,running N-S at
6,053 feet elevation from Grid DN-71 in Laramie County,Wyoming.High QRN levels
from passing thunderstorms made copy difficult at times,but I still managed to
obtain and keep a decent run frequency going for most of the event.Many Ops in
7-Land were clueless about the five letter 7QP contest exchange,and clearly did
not research their own correct 3 letter count abbreviation BEFORE the contest!I
only had a few cases of intentional interference or book end QRM. I did manage
to slightly exceed my last year\'s score by staying in the chair and listening
critically with the Heil Headset for weaker stations.I worked a few of my fellow
Grand Mesa Contesting Club members,as well as many other perennial players in
this fun event.I lost some valuable time in the second hour when a cable issue
caused me to lose frequency readout for my Rig Control.As always,40 Meters was
my \"Money Maker\",and
