Comments:

Another stay-at-home contest weekend.

After doing the Phone WPX with just one antenna (a 4 Element Force 12 monobander
at 65 feet), I decided I needed some more station diversity, so in the couple of
weekends before the contest I built up a 3 El 20 on a 32 foot boom and managed
to get it up about 35 feet in the air, fixed to the east. It turned out to be a
both good and bad thing - in running it together with the upper antenna I was
able to beam in two directions at the same time, but the antenna also picked up
an S6 noise from somewhere nearby that never went away. Oh well . . .

Conditions were ok here, but not nearly as robust for me into Europe as for
stations at lower latitudes. About 100 called in the first 7 hours, but it was
pretty much all S&P after that - worked another 175 the rest of the weekend.
The JA openings from here were shorter than normal, and I echo the lack of
activity that others have reported - I logged about 100 for the entire weekend.
Most of my Qs were with the USA - which is the strong suit of my station here at
home.

Thanks to all for the QSOs.

73,
Gary
