Comments:

Decided to stay safe this year, so operated 1B due to Covid-19. Most stations
worked were 1D or 1E. I was set up in the woods under a tarp and had a lot of
rain but was able to keep relatively dry.

Ran all battery power and to make that possible I decided to run relatively low
power using all home built gear (some in kit form like the MFJ Cub). 18 watts
output on 40 meters, and 10 watts output on 20 meters.

Antennas set up Friday Afternoon:
40 meter dipole 30 feet up in the trees.
20 meter dipole 30 feet up in the trees.

40 meter Transceiver MFJ Cub (MFJ-9340) with 2 watts out driving a Mosfet Amp
for 18 watts output.
20 meter Transmitter 1.3 watts out driving Mosfet Amp for 10 watts output.
Built the 20 meter transmitter last week just for Field Day. 20 meter superhet
receiver is also home built.

Hi-Per-Mite Active Audio Filter (200 Hz Bandwidth) used on both the 40 and 20
meters gear.

Ran laptop on its internal battery and to save energy I turned off WiFi and
Bluetooth which really helped. Was concerned halfway through the event that the
laptop battery might not make it all the way through, so charged it up on my
cars battery for a half hour, and had plenty to spare.

Thanks to everyone I worked as well as everyone that took part in Field Day
2020.

73,
Don (wd8dsb)
