Lost all my antennas to tornado but managed to get a doublet back up. Then lost
my amp and a bunch of other stuff to T-storm. As a result, operated LP with one
antenna. Was pleasantly surprised to hear EU on both 10M and 15M at the start
of the contest plus some strong Asians on 20M. The only problem on 10M was that
the EU stations could not hear me so just got a lot of practice sending my call.
EU was even louder in the late afternoon opening. And, then 20M really opened
up with strong signals. I could even work them with my low antenna and
barefoot. Had not expected to be able to put a lot of time so my wife had other
plans for me which cut my time short. Such is life. Sure hope the bands stay
like this for rest of the sunspot bottom.
