Comments:

CQVHF was my last missing CQWW branch contest I never operated before. Finally
got full set. Not pretty serious effort but since my last VHF contest appearance
was about two decades ago then operating was a fun even at the bottom of the
cycle.

Temporary antenna setup in the apple tree garden consisted of 4 (8) element dual
band (6+4) short boom Yagi beam on top of 4 meters high fiberglass pipe along
with piece of RG223 cable weighting less than 10 kg all together. Rotated by
hand very easy. To turn the antenna I had to run out of the house around the
corner through the garden which is about 50 meters and 2 doors one way. For
instance if you turn the antenna 100 times per contest and need to sprint this
distance on every rotation it is totaling 10 km sprint per contest. Who said
radio sport is not sport? :)

The location itself is not good for VHF since only 180-270 degrees and 40-60
degrees has more or less open sky. The rest of directions are obscured by
structures or thick forest unless you go at least 20m up. However this layout
allows to Q most of EU.

Because my appearance on VHF is lasting only one month I was not focusing on QSO
totals or score but making new stations, grids and countries.

Another interesting contest statistic:
FT8 – 149 QSO
CW – 5 QSO
SSB – 1 QSO (yeah, finally I did it)

EU skip was good on Saturday evening with some Qs pretty late. Also Sunday
morning looked promising but then about the noon God's Chancellery decided to
turn off the propagation at my location allowing me for different tasks.

Surprisingly I found out this is all time second best Latvian CQVHF score. Not
bad for my kindergarten style operation. Might be worth thinking of better
toys/location next years :)

P.S. Dear Sun! Wake up! It is enough sleeping!
