Comments:
All excited to put up a 3-element 40-Meter Inverted Vee the week before the
contest. Better than the old Vertical, but the 400-foot hill directly between
the shack and Europe is not helpful.
With 4-hours to go, Windows crashed and decided to install a system update when
it rebooted, which I could not prevent. Of course the SO2R controller was gone
after that, and N1MM+ would not send CW. So back to the paddle and manually
calculating how many QTC's I was allowed to send to each station, logging them
by hand, since N1MM+ would not accept them as input if it was not sending them.
Some hourly rates below to share the joy of operating from DC, which consists of
4 hours at the beginning when you click on all the Big Guns spots, followed by
32 hours of boredom. But thanks to Pokemon Go!, it being 'Gyarados Community
Day' on Saturday so I was able to catch a bunch of Magikarps between unanswered
CQ's. That game is almost as addictive as contesting, and you don't need 8
200-foot towers to be good at it.
