Comments:
A long time since I passed the 60 mark for Q's in CWT.
The status of the vertical has been questionable for a
long time, and suspect due to its sharp tuning. Last week
I noticed it had slid down 8 m along the telephone pole.
So, with help of Rhino/OH5RP, I got it up 2m higher over
its previous position. This time I had to function as a
monkey instead of my inner elephant. On 14 MHz it is a
zoo-version, as it is now almost a full wave with the
currents anti-phase in the lower and upper half. A sort
of semi-diversity antenna for differing take-off angles
due to the partially screened lower half. On 7 MHz it is
a nice half wave, launching perfectly over the metal roofs
(but always suffering from industrial QRN on RX)...
The 35 gigawatts of Auroral power was still hanging mainly
over Easter Siberia. Attenuation was up, but we got some
short skip from the Nordic countries. Finally 7 MHz was
not too bad. In mid-Summer it is sometimes hard to see
activity there in the 1300Z-session. Autumn is approaching
and CWopen next weekend. Hope to see all of you there,
possibly with randomly picked private calls (of my set)!
Cheers/73, Zaba OH1ZAA #1856 CWops
