Comments:
Had a bit of time to play in Salmon Run. It's been an interesting experience to
be on the other side of the equation - I've done this contest a few times from
WA, but this was my first being outside. Turns out, WI, where I'm visiting
family for a couple of weeks, is a great place to be for this contest. I've been
told a few times that I was loud, which was refreshing, as it happens very
rarely when I operate from my own station. This was even more surprising given
that I only had dipoles at 40-45 feet and about 500W out.
Great fun to work friends and many familiar calls. Many thanks to the mobiles
and expeditions, who covered some rare counties. Chasing a sweep was a lot of
fun, even though I didn't ultimately succeed. The county missed was Stevens.
Having a 7 in the callsign and doing this contest is a pain. Running was
basically pointless. I'm not sure if the totals above include all the non-WA Qs.
Despite that, this was a fun event.
