Comments:
This weekend started with Kurt, W6PH, asking what was going on at ND7K? There
was no plans at all. With some conversation and feelers we were able to get a
great team together. We were joined by John W4IX and Steve AA7V from the PHX
area. The ops wanted lots of operating time for their various availability's and
we decided to go M2 again. It was a great decision which caused Kurt and myself
to do a lot more BIC time Sunday than I'm used to. John and Steve came in and
really put in an opening effort to get us started off the right way!
It was great working ZF1A and TI7W knowing how hard each of them prepared for
this contest. Nate, NR3X, operating remote into ME (RHR) worked like crazy
before the contest and it was always nice to stumble upon his loud signals!
We had better than expected conditions. Each op did their part in putting
together a much higher score than anticipated with the lack of DXpeditions due
to the pandemic. It was great working so many friends across the world, with
many on 5-6 bands!
80m was quite a surprise as it opened to EU giving us 36 EU countries!
Of course 15m and 10m was doing way better than expected too... it really gave
us a good time to not be all bunched up on 20/40.
The Icom 7610's really helped out with the great front pan! It was used quite a
bit throughout the contest to find open spots, see a band at a distance, and
navigate some of the deeper piles!
Inrad W1's proved to be a good choice again in the multi environment with light
weight being a big plus over the long weekend!
