Sun is smiling, grace is shining!
Sun god waking up with flux above 100 peaking to 110 was a joy news after few
years into dark age. My ancestral house story was different though!. With recent
replacement of clay roof with aluminum sheets had skewed my hex beam out of all
bands. I had to take it down as no more than 40 feet height was possible at this
location. Hence planning was to have three band fan wire vertical for 40,20 and
15 above the metal roof. While erecting couple of days before contest found that
antenna is very much resonating on 40m with couple of additional elevated
radials on the north side where roof is not present. At Other bands i had to use
tuner to bring SWR down.
Made another quick vertical at ground level for 15 and 20 meters as standby, but
found that due to nearby building obstructions, it worked mostly as high angle
radiator I feel.
However, operation was much fun this time on 40m knowing that there is not much
i could do on higher bands. All bands were quite open and busy. Could not resist
operating at day time on 15meters. Noise which was bothering last couple of
years at this location was also absent, making the long hour of listening
without much fatigue.
Overall very nice experience. Congrats to all friends - happy times are back!
