OPERATING CQWW CW ON iPAD AT CR2X
Following the painful CQWW SSB by OH2BH with the overall latency, resulting
uncomfortable and non-synchronized
operating, put us back to the remote drawing board. As the issue was noticed
specifically to be the internal latency
in Maestro control panel and windows based SSDR, up to 500 m/s, other
alternatives were studied.
Operating the Flex 6700 from iPad eliminated the internal latency thus it was a
quick & easy solution to this situation.
Integrating the VFO knob, operating controls, WinKey and paddle to IPad was
then the further engineering needed
and indeed a very different approach to contesting was on hand. Smooth sound and
easy to tune-in were those key

It was nice to see that propagation was already much better than last year and
solar cycle 25 shows signs of growth.
By continent stats were 1722 QSO's from North America and 1808 QSO's from the
EU.
Achieving another EU win from a tailor made super contest station from the best
EU location is always a thrill. One can only
vision the warm temperatures of Azores (17C today) while freezing up here in
the far North with cold and snow and closed
15m. One day soon, after Covid-19 is gone, we hope to be able to return to
this EU paradise island for another maintenance
call and more fun.
