Comments:
K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. N3UM and
W3GB operated Multi-2 in CQ WW CW 2020.
Our goal was to beat our best past claim, in 2019; 1437 Qs and a
2M score. We fell ‘way short of that, by 218 Qs and 467K points.
An SFI of 110+ vs 70 last year got us 141 more Qs on 15 and 10 M,
but at slow rates, so the time those Qs took cost us 128 fewer Qs
on 20 M. The high SFI also fed the D layer, and hurt 40 M and 80 M
for hours after sunset.
We saw this at the start; we got 112 fewer Qs 00Z to 0635Z QRT on
40 and 80 M than in ’19. Sat. AM 12-1630Z we got 195 Qs on 20, 15,
and 10 M, 59 more than on 20 M alone in ’19
but still behind. From 1630-22Z Sat. we got another 144 high-
band Qs. After 22Z we got 169 Qs on 40 M, but only 42 on 80 and
160 M by 0557Z QRT.
From 12-14Z Sun. AM, N3UM got our longest run, 146 Qs on 20 M in
2 hrs, mostly EUs. When run rate died at 1401Z, he clicked spots
for 55 Qs on 10 thru 20 M by 16Z.
From 16Z to 2324Z QRT, we got a last 123 high-band Qs, all but 46 by W3GB.
As has worked well for us before, N3UM ran and got 58% of
our Qs, while W3GB clicked spots and got 56% of our mults.
