Comments:

This was a shakedown cruise for my new FTDX-101D. By the time I had everything
set up well enough to start operating, there were 5 minutes left until the
bell.
So lunch and walking the dog took up some prime daylight time. I spent too much
time on 15, partially to get used to the radio before tackling a busier 20M.
There were only a few really loud signals on 15 with a bit of Es into 5 land.
20 was in decent shape, but little time until 40 might go very long. 40 was okay
at 21Z to nearby activity and well SW/W. It did go long pretty fast and even 9's
were skipping over around 2330Z. Conditions on 80 and 160 were great! There was
never much of any skip zone over the populous 2/3/4 call areas to contend with
on 80.

The good news is that I really liked the new radio overall. Guys, you really
need to rethink calling zero beat to avoid a total useless drone of CW notes.
Towards the late evening, it got more difficult for me to sort out the zero
beaters. The selectivity of the 101D was superlative compared to the old radio
and the Rx noise floor seems lower. I seemed to have nearly no QRM issues
wherever I called CQ. I was a bit worried that I might be too close to other
loud signals to be heard well by those with a lower grade radio; that didn't
seem to happen.

Thanks for the Q's, great activity, and I will be back for a SSB dose.

73, Jeff
