Comments:

The ARRL test in December
Is one I don’t want to remember
The weatherman said
“There’s a big storm ahead”
So after the first night I surrendered

For CQ160 I was ready
But the wind it was blowing quite steady
It was really no joke
My antenna, it broke
By 08z I was in beddy

Got off to a slow start but after a couple of hours was pretty much on pace with
last year's score. Signals from Europe were mostly not very strong, and there
was no big peak at sunrise, but the log shows 30% of my 872 QSOs were
Europeans.

At 08z the transmit antenna started acting up, with the SWR spiking. I think one
of the wires was rubbing against one of the side-mounted yagis on the tower and
eventually wore through the insulation and was intermittently shorting to the
beam. With temperatures around 10F and windchill of about -20F, it was too cold
to even think about trying to fix it.

So both of the big 160 contests were washouts for me this year. Weather in Maine
is hard.

See you next year!
