Comments:
Flew in from S Korea Friday night and not motivated to put everything back
together after 3 mo absence...woke early Sunday morning and by 9am had the
antenna (88ft wire) thru 4:1 balun ready to launch out balcony window facing
USA. I use spiderbeam 40ft mast but only about 25ft so as to keep very stiff
alignment with building. On 24th floor so 66 feet hangs down in front of other
apartments...use 16ga "wure" to keep visibility low key. It worked
very well.
No trouble holding a freq; probably due to typical slow Sunday tempo. DXmaps.com
is great aide; used it to see how the paths were open between NA and southward.
15 was open very early. Tested Winkeyer and pushed CQ button, Reverse Beacon
almost immediately sent out several spots and had mini pileup. Had not planned
on operating til about noon but quickly ate bkfast and got ready to operate by
11a.m. Fun running the pile up...felt more like a CWT wednesday though. This
contest seems like an Intl SS from the DX side.
