Comments:
This was my first WPX contest and it was pretty fun experience overall. First,
a huge thank you to N6MJ and KI6RRN for taking steps to create some form of
competition in an unassisted category.
After the first night on 40, I was ready to throw in the towel, but the low
bands got better as the weekend progressed. I spent way too much time looking
for EU and, to my peril, ignored the "go west, young man" advice I got
from Scott, WU2X, before the contest. WU2X, who graciously let me use his
callsign, is the force behind station design and it showed this weekend because
it performed flawlessly. All mess ups were operator-generated! Big thanks also
to Stan, K5GO and Kevin, N5DX for letting me pick their brains on strategy - if
only I had followed it....
Others have remarked on the late openings on 20 on Sunday. Truly thrilling and
it would have been even better if we had no rain static.
Last but not least, huge congrats to Ed/AC1U/N1UR on a monster score. Wow!
