This was the first visit for K0BJ to this off-grid location near Hartsel CO with
great views in all directions (see http://wy7m.com/ ) Bruce and owner Chuck
WY7M did nearly all operating but John KT0F and Cheryl N0WBV visited and John
made a few Qs.
100 watts is the way to go here as QRO involves running a gas generator to keep
batteries, photo cells and wind charger happy. PLUS the antenna arsenel and
9500' elevation decibelize that low power RF.
Both Chuck and Bruce travel/vacation extensively in HS and 3W. It was a treat
to log E2A E21YDP and other ASEAN stations.
That common interest gave the pair chat fodder for those brief times when
neither was operating. John and Cheryl's visit was especially fun. They've
off-roaded at a fave area ~ 6 miles from the station, since before it was built
~ a decade ago. They have some travel and DX interests in common with K0BJ
which led to much s9 story-telling. Cheryl is a key player in YLRL and knows
some of the YLs Bruce has met at SEAnet conventions etc.
When K0BJ departed for the 5 hour trip home it looked as though t-storms were
the only threat to ringing up a 3M claimed score. The QRN tried but in the end
that target was reached. Tnx for all Qs.
