Comments:
Band conditions were fantastic for the WPX CW this year! Worked the contest off
and on throughout the weekend. This is the first contest that I have used my N/S
Super loop after being raised from 20 feet to about 50 feet in the air. I was
very pleased with the results and used this antenna exclusively throughout the
entire contest. 40 was the best band overall the entire weekend, 80 & 160
were very noisy with quite a bit of static crashes due to thunderstorms. Got
shut down on Saturday night for about two hours due to a pop up thunderstorm,
but better safe than sorry. Nice openings throughout the contest on 40 and 20 to
EU, Asia, Africa, South and Central America, & the Caribbean. Worked fellow
Swamp Foxes WN4AFP & N4IQ who by the way was booming into Summerville at 20
over S-9 on 40 meters. For once, everything in the shack worked flawlessly with
no glitches which is a refreshing change. I set a goal for 500 Q's but because I
got slack and took too many breaks I ran out of time (my own fault) and missed
my mark by 5 Q's. Need to work on focusing on the contest more and get more
practice on my BIC time. Many TNX to all who worked me, and for your patience
when the bands went South.
