Comments:

Score calculation: 264 QSOs x 2 (CW) x 2 (LP) = 1,056 + 50 bonus points for log
submission to ARRL Website = 1,106

Family commitments limited my time this Field Day, so I kept it simple and
operated S&P on CW. No digital. No SSB. And because I dislike late hours,
nil after 2300 EDT. Total operating time: 6.5 hours.

Band conditions seemed generally okay--no QRN or strange QSB--but I never heard
anyone beyond California. Propagation seemed a little short.

Typical of Field Day operations, activity was intense Saturday but tapered off
early Sunday afternoon. By 1430 EDT the bands had nearly emptied out. It was
like a diminuendo in music. I could imagine many tent pegs being yanked up by
tired participants.

Just as last year, the pandemic-loosened ARRL rule for 1D made it the category I
worked most. Of my 264 QSOs, including a few duplicated calls across bands, 37%
fell in the 1D category. One year ago, however, that figure was 56%. More
actually went out in the field this time. The next categories in line for me
this year were 1E (13%), 2A (10%), and 3A (8%).

Station: Icom 7410, Ameritron ALS-600 at 150w, Cushcraft R6000 vertical, and
dipoles.
