Comments:
I just couldn't get enthused about Field Day this year. Field day is supposed to
be when you and a bunch of friends go out, erect antennas, camp out, and operate
for 24 hours. I couldn't even develop the energy to haul my 40AH battery up and
enter as 1E. (I could have gotten more bonus points too.)
RTTY seemed to be almost totally absent. FT8 is not the same experience. Only 4
of my 11 digital QSOs were RTTY.
I lasted in SSB until I started cringing at the wasted time and low rate and
bailed back to CW to try to salvage a rate that was merely poor.
Here's to Field Day next year with a club operation.
