Wow, this was even more exciting than 13Z! I fired up the ol' steam powered
Lenovo Win 7 a little late-I think it was about 1915 or so-and configured N1MM.
I dialed into 15m found several stations calling while the computer was taking
its sweet time to boot up. At the exact moment I hit the button to call whatever
station, the computer died, dead, dead dead. I then opened up a laptop I use for
work and found that in the several weeks since I last used it that Win 10 had
several updates pending, so I waited, waited, waited - while Windows did its
update thingy for over 25 minutes. I had never seen "cleaning up
files" or some such before. I then returned to the steam powered Win 7
Lenovo and lo and behold it had cooled off to the point it actually worked! Of
course, everyone had already left 15m so I went to 14048[!] and heard enough
signals that I figured I had best gotten with the program. By then it was 1950z
or so. I did 10 quick ones including my bud Keith VE7KW and called it a day by
1956z. The good side of this story is that my steam powered Win 7 computer is
now updated for at least a day or so, and I will be able to get on the 03z
affair without burning my legs IF I can get it going, and the good work Win 10
is updated, at least enough to get on the air at 03z withough falling asleep.
Tnx fer the Qs. Mebbe I will get to run a little at 03Z. CU then and stay tuned!
