Comments:
This was my first NAQP contest since 2017 due to schedule conflicts most years.
I offered to join a contest team for the first time, which I suspect gave me
some additional subconscious motivation to put some in some extra BIC time. I
set a goal to make at least 100 QSOs but was having a good time on 40 meters so
kept on going. All QSOs were S&P since I feel like an alligator with my high
noise level. Ran the KX3/PX3/KXPA100 at 90W on 10 through 20 meters and 50W on
40 and 80 meters.
Started out with a fan dipole for 10 and 15 meters. Conditions seemed decent on
15 meters but few signals were found on 10 meters. Took down the fan dipole and
set up the 20 meter vertical, but found noise was high and most signals were
warbly. So the vertical came down and I put up the fan dipole for 20, 40, and 80
meters, which dropped my noise floor by a lot more than usual and got rid of the
warbly sound. Noise floor seemed lower than usual on 40 and 80 meters.
Also had the VHF gear running in the background to give some points to folks
doing the ARRL 222MHz+ Distance Contest but only heard two ops on 70cm SSB.
