Comments:
Portable operation from Flint Peak (SOTA W6/CT-225). KX3 @ 5 watts, 100' doublet
with CAT 5 twisted pair feed supported by 30' SpiderBeam pole and tree branch.
Hand sent. Paper log on 6" x 9" clipboard with paddle attached. For
about half the contest my radio was lashed to a chain link fence under a pine
tree crown for shade and I operated standing. When the legs complained I
sat/kneeled in the same tree's trunk shade until sunset, chasing that narrow
patch throughout the afternoon. With the horizon aglow from the departed sun my
gumption ran out. That cut 1:20 of operating time on 40/80.
I never heard anyone on 10. 15 was pretty good, 20 and 40 the best.
Thanks for digging my small signal out of the noise. I tried to ride signal
peaks as best I could, which worked well.
Congrats to the big scorers. It is music to my ears to hear so many good CW ops
on the air.
72,
David N6AN
