Comments:
The contest week-end started with the newspaper showing photos of unusually
strong aurora borealis on Friday night, right here, at the very south western
part of Norway. Fine for some, maybe, but not so for the contest, although the
first ten hours were lively and promising. Had a personal SAC best with 175 Qs
in the log after the first hour, and 290 after two.
After five years of operating SAC CW from other locations, I was now back at the
cabin QTH. Radios were 2x TS-590SG with Expert amps. All worked fine with no
issues. For the three viable bands, the antenna farm offered wire GPs for 20m
and 40m and a low inverted vee for 80m.
SAC is a great occasion for a virtual 'nod' and appreciation for friends and
familiar call signs. And tnx to all out there who make SAC a great joy,
especially for us at the hunted end!
