Comments:
Nice activity from Europe this year! Worked 250-5pt QSOs, most of them the
first night. Conditions the second night were not as good, with weaker signals
and heavy noise crashes. A few QSOs took a back-and-forth 5 minutes to
complete, with static crashes always taken out the same piece of the callsign!
Worked 80 sections, missed LAX, SJV, AK, and NT. Although the first 3 were
spotted numerous times, I could never hear any of them.
Station equipment: K3S, KPA1500, 4-square in a salt water marsh, and a beverage
antenna on Europe that mostly provided no help. Its tough to get a beverage to
play over highly conductive ground. The station is also located less than 2
miles from a 5kw AM Broadcast station that has the main lobe through the
station, so our endeavors with vertical Rx arrays have always been overloaded
with the BCB signal. I was also remote the entire contest, operating from my
home 70 miles away using the Remote Rig pairs.
