Comments:

Remote from Tokyo.

With only 80 and 40 meter dipoles left in my antenna arsenal after the ravages
of a two year absence on my station, there was not much point in spending time
on this one, especially since the fun part of this contest takes place during my
normal sleep hours.

I started off Friday night with a rollicking 3-QSO hour. All stations were
within a few miles of my QTH. I heard plenty of other very weak but Q5 stations
but they couldn't hear me. It was the same story early Saturday. There were
lots of weak stations and some fairly strong signals from PJ2, KP2 and KP4, but
I couldn't get through the pileups on the latter. I'm not even sure if any of
them could have heard me at all even with no other callers. So I went to bed.
Sunday condx seemed a lot worse from what I could tell.

Chasing these popup stations is fun, and I had a couple of successes with guys
who were S7-S9 for a couple of minutes before disappearing into the noise.
Finding these stations requires a lot of tuning or maybe a panadaptor.

Overall totals: 7 OH, 2 FL, 2 SD, 1 ID, 1 PA, 1 CO, 1 MA.

10 Meters was unbelievable when I first became a ham in 1957. I could work DX
easily with 75 watts and my in-the-attic dipole. I especially remember that
stations from Arizona used to routinely come in 40 over 9. I hope those days
are getting ready to return.

73, Hal W1NN
